Providence celebrates Dominican parade, festival

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The City of Providence celebrated Dominican culture and heritage with a parade and festival on Sunday.

The event, organized by Quisqueya In Action, began with a parade down Broad Street that ended at Roger Williams Park.

The festival took place at the park’s Temple of Music, and included live performances, music, dancing, food, and other vendors.

Providence Police Maj. Henry Remolina was one of the Grand Marshals of the parade, and said that the event brings together many cultures in the city, including Columbians and Puerto Ricans.

“It always draws a large crowd, there’s easily 10,000 to 15,000 [people] throughout the day,” he said.
