PROVIDENCE, R.I.- A Providence chiropractor pleaded guilty to evading taxes and diverting over $1 million in business revenue, United States Attorney Aaron Weisman announced in a statement today.

Dr. Leonard Marino, 50, of Johnston, ran Chiropractic Associates on Elmwood Ave. in Providence.

Marino admitted in court that he cashed checks issued from law firms on behalf of clients, and continued the practice even after banks warned him, by requesting that firms make the payments in his name, and taking them to a check cashing business.

Court documents disclosed that Marino failed to report over $1 million in income to the IRS between 2016 and 2018.

Marino will be sentenced in United States District Court in Providence in May.
