Providence citywide curfew to end Saturday evening

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Mayor Jorge Elroza announces the citywide curfew will be lifted in Providence Saturday night.

A statement received from Mayor Elorza’s office Saturday says that after Friday’s peaceful protest, the curfew can be lifted.

Elorza said, “Yesterday, we came together as one city and as one voice to say loud and clear that Black Lives Matter. I want to thank everyone for a peaceful night and for showing this country what unity and strength looks like. May we build off of that sense of community that we all felt and work together to end institutional racism in our community.”

In addition, the mayor’s statement includes the reminder that the threat of COVID-19 is not behind us and anyone who attended last night’s gathering should closely monitor themselves for symptoms.
