PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The long-time president of Providence College will part ways with the school upon the completion of his term next year, the college announced Friday.

Providence College said in a statement that college president Rev. Brian J. Shanley will step down from his position at the completion of his current term in June 2020.

Shanley was first selected as president in 2005. He was later elected to two additional five-year terms by the college’s Board of Trustees.

Providence College said that the school will now begin the process of finding Shanley’s successor.
