Providence College student arrested for allegedly throwing cigarette at police cruiser

A Providence College student was arrested for disorderly conduct after allegedly throwing a lit cigarette at a police cruiser Saturday morning.

18 year old Michael Dorman was also arrested for resisting arrest after running from officers trying to figure out who threw a cigarette at their cruiser.

Authorities tell ABC 6 two officers were driving on Pembroke Avenue on a Providence College detail after midnight when they saw the lit cigarette come flying from a group of people on 150 Pembroke Avenue and hit the side of the front windshield.

The driver and passenger windows were open.

The officials asked everyone for identification and Dorman failed to provide it. Police tried directing him toward their vehicle then he ran away towards Eaton Street.

Police tackled Dorman on the campus lawn after catching up with him.

He was held but released late Saturday morning.

Providence College officials are aware of the incident and are conducting an investigation
