Providence College student-athlete facing gun, domestic assault charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence College announced in a release that one of its basketball players was detained by police after an off-campus domestic incident involving a gun.

Providence police confirmed 21-year-old Alyn Breed was arrested early Saturday morning, on numerous firearm, vandalism and domestic violence charges including breaking and entering.

Breed was suspended from the PC Friars’ men’s basketball team shortly after charges were released.

Officials said Breed planned on playing for the team for his senior season prior to being charged.

College officials stated that the incident remains under investigation and the school is fully cooperating with Providence police in their investigation.

No further information was immediately released.
