Providence Diocese respond to Coronavirus crises

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – Amid the growing concern of coronavirus, the Providence Diocese announced on Thursday, directives in response to the Coronavirus Crisis.

According to the statement, masses will continue to be offered, however, the Diocesan Bishop dispenses Catholics in the Diocese from the obligation to attend Sunday mass continuing through to March 29.

Members of the parish who are 60-years-old or older, especially with health conditions are encouraged to take advantage of the dispensation.

Pastors are permitted to adjust their devotional schedules based on local conditions while continuing to meet the needs of the faithful, according to the Diocese.
