PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- About a dozen people were displaced from a Bowdoin Street home Sunday afternoon.

The 3-story home caught fire just after 2 p.m.

Deputy Chief Brian Mahoney says when companies arrived they found heavy fire showing from the third floor.

Deputy Chief Mahoney says the fire was knocked down in about 25 minutes before it spread to the rest of the building.

Mahoney told ABC6 crews used a “significant amount of water” to put out the fire resulting in water damage on the first and second floor.  He says it’s unclear if anyone was home at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Red Cross will be assisting the displaced residents.
