Providence keeps cooling centers, waterparks open through Sunday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence will keep cooling centers open through Sunday as temperatures are expected to remain high.

The city opened cooling centers this week ahead of a heat advisory that went into effect Wednesday. ABC 6 meteorologist Chelsea Priest said the heat wave will continue as temperatures reach near 90 degrees through the weekend.

A full list of locations can be found on the Providence Emergency Management Agency website.

Hours for the city’s waterparks and pools will also be extended:

  • Friday and Saturday 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Sunday 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.

The city has provided safety tips for residents during the extreme temperatures.
