Providence Man Killed Crossing Street
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Police say a 79-year-old Providence man
on his way home after his morning coffee and newspaper run has died
after being struck and killed while crossing the street.
Police say 79-year-old Harold O'Leary was crossing Westminster
and Stokes streets near his home when he was struck Wednesday
morning by a 22-year-old woman on her way to work.
He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the accident remains under investigation but it
appears to be an accident, and they do not anticipate charging the
woman. She was not speeding and not using a cell phone.
