Providence man pleads guilty to assaulting postal worker

PROVIDNECE, R.I. (WLNE) — U.S. Attorney Zachary Cunha said a Providence man has admitted to assaulting a United States postal carrier.
Court documents said 19-year-old Ismael Colon Pena allegedly punched a postman in the face after an altercation.
The postal walker said Pena was sitting in his car parked in the street where he was delivering. The postman said he maneuvered his truck around Pena’s car.
Court documents said Pena confronted the mailman shortly after, alleging that the they almost hit his car.
The same documents alleged that Pena punched the postal official in the face.
Pena pleaded guilty Tuesday to a charge of assault on a federal employee. He is scheduled to be sentenced in May.
Another person in the car with Pena at the time of the assault was charged similarly and is awaiting trial.
