PROVIDENCE R.I. (WLNE) — A Providence man is being sentenced to two years in prison for his involvement in multiple thefts from luxury car dealerships.

According to court documents, Michael Farias, 57, and accomplices stole thousands of dollars worth of tires and rims from the cars.

These robberies spanned across locations in Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York and Maine.

Officials said that Farias and his conspirators would steal pieces of the luxury vehicles then sell the stolen goods to others around the U.S.

Farias was first apprehended by an officer on May 9, 2020, at the Herb Chambers car lot on Winthrop Street in possession of tools commonly used to remove tires from cars.

He was arrested again on November 17, 2020, and plead guilty to one count of interstate transportation of stolen property in November of 2021.

Farias is required to report to prison on April 14, 2023, and will serve three years of supervised release following his two-year-sentence.
