Providence man to serve life for murder

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A Providence man has been sentenced to life after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree murder.

Arnold Evans, 37, of Providence pleaded guilty Thursday to the murder of Tyrone Williams in July of 2018.

The Attorney General’s Office said Evans shot Williams multiple times just after midnight on July 1st, 2018. Williams was sitting in a parked car in the area of 189 Gallup Street in Providence when Evans began firing.

Williams fled the car and later collapsed at the intersection of Gallup Street and Gordon Avenue, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead.

Evans was sentenced to serve life at the ACI.
