Providence man walks into pizzeria after being shot in the leg

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A 19-year-old man was shot on the leg on Sunday afternoon in Providence, according to police.

Authorities say Gabriel Delgado was shot near Chalkstone Avenue.

An employee at Tommy’s Pizza told ABC6 News that the victim went into the pizzeria around noon, after being shot in the leg and asked for a lighter.

The employee walked the victim outside and called 911, before another car arrived and picked up the victim.

“”He was jumpy. I mean, he just got shot. I think he was in shock. You know what I mean? Like he was really in shock. Like he couldn’t believe he was shot. He had that look in his face. You know what I mean? Like he was more worried about having a cigarette to relax himself” said the Tommy’s Pizza employee.

Police say Delgado went to Roger Williams Hospital.  Delgado did not identify the exact location where he was shot, but told officers it was “somewhere” on Chalkstone Avenue.

Providence Police are currently investigating.
