Providence man wanted for animal abuse

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – An arrest warrant has been issued for a Providence man charged with animal abuse.

The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said Thursday that a warrant has been secured for the arrest of 18-year-old Gerald Hazard after investigation into a video shared on social media showing him abusing a dog.

Hazard is charged with count of Unnecessary Cruelty to animals.

The RISPCA is working with Providence Police to apprehend Hazard.

The dog, a 6-year-old pit bull named Crystal, is in the care and custody of the RISPCA.
