Providence Mayor Reacts to School Board President’s Resignation

The sudden resignation from the head of the Providence School Board, has Mayor Angel Taveras on the offensive.

Mayor Taveras tells ABC6 News that it is his responsibility as leader of the city, to handle teacher contracts. Mayor Taveras also tells ABC6 that since members of the school board are appointed, and not elected, he's fine with them not being a part of union negotiations.

Former Providence School Board President Kathleen Crain, sees thing differently from Taveras. She sights the board being stripped of its power, as the main reason for her resignation.
