Providence opens the Narducci PreK-8 Learning Center

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Narducci PreK-8 Learning Center officially opened in Providence on Tuesday.

Gov. Dan McKee and members of Providence Public Schools cut the ribbon at the completed center at 110 Paul Street.

The center is named after Councilman Nicholas Narducci and his family’s longtime commitment to the city.

It’s at the site of the former Windmill Street School, which was abandoned for over a decade.

Narducci’s father went to the school in the 1940s and his wife and his mother both worked at the school for decades.

“I’m wholeheartedly honored to have this school named after my family,” Narducci told ABC 6 News in Jan. 2022 when the city announced the tribute.

The center opened just in time for the school year.

Students of all but two Providence schools will return to the classroom on Wednesday.

The first day for students of Frank D. Spaziano and William D’Abate elementary schools was delayed until Monday due to construction.
