Providence pizzeria co-owner, cook forcefully stop ‘armed’ robber

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- The co-owner of a Providence pizzeria, and one of his cooks, forcefully put a stop to an attempted robbery on Sunday night, according to the Providence Police Department.

Investigators responded to PVD Pizza at around 10:28 p.m. after receiving multiple calls from customers.

Police said that Kevin Rosenberg confronted the robber, Brian Feener, as he approached the counter with what appeared to be a gun, and called out kitchen staff for back up.

Feener then rushed the counter and tried to steal cash from the register. The two wrestled over the register, then Rosenberg threw punches at Feener.

An unidentified cook, who had come out from the kitchen, landed a punch that took Feener off of his feet.

The staff was able to get Feener outside and then police put him in the back of a cruiser.

Investigators said that they found that the “gun” that was inside of Feener’s jacket actually turned out to be a dust-pan broom.

Feener was charged with second-degree robbery and arraigned in Providence District Court on Monday.
