Providence Police arrest two after a car chase

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – Two people were arrested early Sunday morning after leading Providence police in a brief chase. 

Around 4:00 a.m Sunday morning, police attempted to stop a person driving erratically in the area of Julian and Amherst street. 

The driver took off, leading the police in a chase that ended on Rounds street near Reservoir avenue. 

According to police, the driver, male, was arrested for reckless driving, eluding police, and having a suspended license. The front passenger, female was charged with obstruction. Both the driver and passenger had active bench warrants as well. 

Police also noted numerous motor vehicle violations were present. 

The rear passengers of the vehicle were released. 

The department says thankfully nobody was hurt, and no vehicles were damaged in the chase.
