PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department released the amount of money they found in a storage facility in connection with a “sophisticated planned” bank robbery that occurred in June.

Spokesperson Lindsay Lague said that police found $24,000 at the Public Storage on Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence last month.

Police said the bank heist occurred around 2 a.m. on June 29 at the Santander Bank on Atwells Avenue.

Cmdr. Kevin Lanni said the bank was broken into and the vault was “breached.”

He added that officers initially arrived in a “tactical response” because of the nature of the call.

Lanni said no arrests were made at the time.

Lague said the investigation is ongoing.
