PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- The Providence Police Department has identified the two victims of the shooting outside the Fuego Lounge, early Saturday morning.

The two men were identified by Providence Police on Monday as 27-year-old Mario Diaz of Boston and 29-year-old Kerwins Pimental of Mattapan.

Providence Police Major David Lapatin says Diaz was pronounced dead on the scene. Pimental was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he later died.

Police say the two victims were at the lounge celebrating a birthday party when a fight broke out.

Eventually the two groups of people ended up outside the lounge- when at some point the suspect went to a car down the street, grabbed a handgun and then shot the two men.

Police believe this was a fight between a Providence group and a Boston group- but would not elaborate any further.

Now many neighbors in the Broad Street area are hoping to see this lounge shut down permanently to put an end to this unnecessary violence.

“You have the Boston, Rhode Island thing and they don’t get along… then all this riff raff starts. People get hurt and people get killed. We don’t want that in our neighborhood,” Roberta Akinbi tells ABC6 News.

On Tuesday, the Board of Licenses is set to discuss the future of this lounge.

Last August, the lounge was ordered to temporarily shut down following a shooting outside the building.
