Providence Police Investigate Deadly Motorcycle Accident
Providence Police are investigating a deadly car versus motorcycle accident that happened around 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
The accident took place on Broad St. at Congress Ave. in Providence. Police tell ABC6 News that 27-year-old Donte DeWitt of Providence, was driving a 2000 Kawasaki southbound on Broad St., in the center, turn-only lane. Police say there was no indication that he was attempting to turn.
The car involved in the crash, a 2000 Toyota Corolla, was turning from Congress Ave. onto Broad St. when the accident occurred.
DeWitt was transported to RI Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police tell ABC6 News that speed was a factor in the crash, along with DeWitt driving in the wrong lane. No charges are expected against the other driver.
The crash remains under investigation.
