Providence police investigate ‘sophisticated planned’ bank robbery

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police said Thursday they are investigating a “sophisticated planned” bank robbery.
The robbery happened just after 2 a.m. at the Santander Bank on Atwells Avenue.
Cmdr. Kevin Lanni said the bank was broken into and the vault was “breached.”
He said that officers initially arrived in a “tactical response” because of the nature of the call.
No arrests were made and the investigation is ongoing.
