Providence police look for man accused of trying to sexually assault girl

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department is searching for a man who’s accused of sexually assault a teenage girl.

Police said that a 16-year-old girl told them she was walking near Chalkstone Avenue and Gray Street when she noticed the man following her.

The girl told investigators that the man grabbed her by the neck, pulled her into a nearby backyard, and tried to sexually assault her.

Police said the man is about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds. He is believed to be in his early 20s and was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt the night of alleged attack.
