Providence police officer arrested on drunk driving charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Providence police officer appeared in court today after being charged with DUI last weekend.

According to court documents obtained by ABC 6 News, 35-year-old Victor Tavarez, who graduated Providence Police Academy Training in 2019, was arrested on June 18 by East Greenwich police after a reported drunk driving incident.

Tavarez was arraigned Monday morning and had his bond set at $1,000. His pretrial date is set for July 31.
