PROVIDENCE R.I. (WLNE)- The Providence Police Department provided an update on Monday about the two deadly shootings that took place over the weekend.

Major David Lapatin said that the victim in the first shooting near Revel Lounge on O’Connell Street was 24-year-old Daniel Zairis of Providence.

Investigators say Zairis was outside of the club when he a man took out a gun and shot him. Zairis’ friends then fired multiple rounds back at the shooter- who fled the scene.

The victim’s friends took him to Rhode Island Hospital where he later died.

About 20 minutes later police were called to Harwol Court for another unrelated shooting.

Police say 23-year-old Andrei Bonilla, of Providence, was sitting in the car with a female when her ex-boyfriend showed up.

Police believe that’s when the ex-boyfriend, 22-year-old Andrew Mangru, got upset the woman was with Bonilla, and then shot him through the window of the car.

Bonilla drove himself to the nearby Cumberland Farms parking lot on Branch Avenue, hit a guard rail in front of the store, and died in the parking lot.

On Harwol Ct, police say the woman was taken inside by the suspect, who then assaulted her. People inside the home were able to get Mangru out and call police.

The shootings were the 17th and 18th homicides in Providence this year.
