Providence police take Cranston murder suspect into custody after crash
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)– Providence police chased down a suspect wanted for a homicide in Cranston following a car crash in the Olneyville neighborhood Thursday afternoon.
Cranston police later released a statement saying that the suspect had been wanted in connection to a murder that occurred in the city on Harris Avenue on September 8.
The suspect has not been identified.
Earlier in Providence, investigators were on the scene of a crash involving three vehicles in the area of Valley Street and Delaine Street around 4 p.m.
One of the occupants fled the scene and was taken into custody following a foot pursuit shortly after.
Police told ABC6 News the individual was wanted on a homicide charge.
At least one individual was transported from the scene of the crash by ambulance, though the extent of the injuries were not known.
The suspect was due to be seen in Third District Court in Warwick tomorrow.
Cranston police said they would have more information at a press conference Friday morning.
