PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence principals and vice-principals trained Friday on how and when to report allegations of sexual abuse.

The mandatory session was put on by DCYF at Delsesto Middle school Friday morning.

Earlier this year, administrators failed to report accusations of abuse at the Harry Kizirian Elementary School.

Gym teacher James Duffy is accused of inappropriately touching several 11-year-old girls.

While Duffy was placed on leave, DCYF and the Providence Police Department were not immediately notified.

After Friday’s training, the administrators will retrain teachers and staff.

Providence schools tell ABC6 News that this is the first time DCYF has ever taught a program for Rhode Island public school teachers.
