Providence Ranked #22 in Return to Top 25

The Providence College men’s basketball team is ranked No. 22 in the Associated Press Poll and No. 23 in the most recent Coaches Poll. Both polls were released today (December 20). It marks the first time the Friars have been ranked since they were No. 24 in the Coaches Poll on February 22, 2016. It also marks the first time the team has been ranked in both polls since February 15, 2016 when the Friars were 23rd in the Associated Press Poll and 20th in the Coaches Poll.

The Friars (11-1, 1-0) are off to their best start to a season since 2015-16 when they began the season with a 14-1 mark. Providence has posted Quad 1 wins at Wisconsin, versus Northwestern, at home versus Texas Tech and at UConn. The Friars have a NCAA NET ranking of 31 and are the only team in the nation with four Quad 1 victories (4-0).

In their most recent game, the Friars earned a 57-53 win at then No. 20/22 Connecticut on December 18 in the squad’s BIG EAST opener.

The Friars will return to action on Wednesday, December 22 in the team’s BIG EAST opener at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center at 6:30 p.m. on FS1.
