Providence restaurant catches fire.

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) –  A Providence restaurant catches fire late Saturday night. 

At around 10:50 pm, Providence firefighters respond to an alarm at the El Mogote restaurant on 1265 Broad Street. 

A deputy chief said the fire started from the service area in the back of the restaurant. 

Firefighters were able to contain the fire and keep it from spreading to the apartments above the restaurant. No injuries have been reported.

The restaurant had significant damage and will require an inspection from the Health Department. The deputy chief said the restaurant “will be out of commission for a while”.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
