PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – One person is injured after a car crash on I-95 North right near Exit 22 A-B-C.

The crash all started after a car smashed into a work truck right before 4 p.m. which had hundreds of people stuck in traffic for hours.

The truck’s gas tank was ruptured from the collision which caused the truck to light on fire, according to Deputy Assistant Fire Chief Brian Mahoney.

Fire crews were called to the scene around 3:45 p.m. and the scene was cleared around 5:15 p.m.

At one point all lanes of traffic were closed for a brief time before crews were able to open one lane.
