PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Providence Public schools announced Friday that all staff members and students will be required to wear a mask when they return from February vacation.

This comes after McKee announced he plans to lift Rhode Island’s school mask mandate March 4.

Cities and towns are now able to make their own decisions regarding masking policies.

“Student and staff safety is the top priority. While the Governor’s executive order requiring masks in schools is set to sunset on March 4, PPSD and RIDE plan to require all staff members and students to wear masks beyond that point,” says a spokesperson for the school district.
