PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)– Three suspects are in custody after a stabbing in Providence Thursday night.

Providence Police Major David Lapatin said two suspects accused of holding the victim down were taken into custody on the Westminster Street overpass a short time later.

A third suspect accused of stabbing the victim was apprehended later on Harriet Street in Providence.

The stabbing occurred around 7 p.m. in the area of Gordon Avenue and Gallup Street, Lapatin said.

The victim was taken to the hospital for emergency surgery.

There was no word yet on the age or condition of the victim.
