Providence Teachers Union holds successful ‘Sweater-Weather’ clothing drive

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The Providence Teachers Union says they collected over one thousand donations for their “Sweater-Weather Drive for Providence Kids” on Saturday.

“I am overwhelmed by the generosity of our community.  We want kids to be warm and able to concentrate on learning, rather than being distracted by the chill in the classroom air” said PTU President Maribeth Calabro.

The Providence Teachers Union has been collecting items for children in need at the Providence Teachers Union office, and at the Rhode Island Credit Union.

In just two weeks, the community donated nearly 1,000 items for boys and girls in all sizes.
