The Providence Teachers Union rejected a tentative contract agreement between them and the school system Monday night.

In a statement, Providence Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Susan Lusi says, “I regret that the Providence Teachers Union membership has chosen to work without a contract rather than support an agreement that provides for increased professionalism and leadership for our teachers. We will continue on with the work of the district, and with our efforts to move the district forward.”

On September 5th, Providence Schools announced they had reached a tentative 3-year contract with the teachers pending approval from the union.
