Providence’s Social Programs Bracing for Cuts

Thursday, Providence Mayor Angel Taveras announced the scope of the city's debt, as Providence faces a 110-million dollar budget deficit.

In order to deal with the debt, the mayor has laid-off 13 city employees, made cuts to his own pay and the office budget by 10 percent, and has asked all departments to do the same, but more cuts are sure to come.

As the threat of more cuts looms, many of the city's social programs are bracing for the worst.
