Public Hearing Held on Medical Marijuana Compassion Centers

Rhode Island has reached the final phase of its plan to legalize medical marijuana.

Monday the RI Health Department hosted a public hearing for residents to voice their opinions on the matter. Health officials are sorting through 18 applications, and will choose up to 3 locations, assuming they meet the requirements, to operate as compassion centers.

Once the 3 locations are chosen, the compassion centers will be able to legally grow, and sell marijuana to patients.

This is the second round of applications the Health Department has looked at. No one qualified to open a compassion center the first round.
