PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Pawtucket will give McCoy Stadium a proper sendoff with an all-out firework celebration this summer.

People will be invited on the field to say goodbye to the old PawSox stadium on Monday, July 3.

McCoy’s “final inning” will feature food trucks and live entertainment.

The city will announce further details next week.

In November, Pawtucket voters approved plans to turn the stadium into a new high school. The new facility would combine two of the city’s oldest high schools, Charles E. Shea and William E. Tolman.

The stadium has been vacant since 2019.

The chairman of the Facilities Committee for the Pawtucket School Department told ABC 6 News there’s plans to honor McCoy in the new facility.
