Quadruple Car Accident in Jamestown

Three people were transported to a hospital in Newport after a quadruple car accident happened on Route 138 eastbound, near the North Street overpass.

According to Jamestown police, all four cars were approaching the Jamestown bridge when one car struck another, causing a chain reaction resulting in two other drivers rear-ending the cars in front of them.

The Rhode Island turnpike and bridge authority briefly closed westbound lanes of the Claiborne Pell Bridge. Three people were taken to the emergency room at a hospital in Newport with non life-threatening injuries.

The accident was cleared by 12:05 p.m., police say.
