PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- The Rhode Island Division of Taxation announced on Friday that it will be pushing back the deadline for filing taxes.

The division will be following the change that was announced by the IRS on Wednesday, moving the deadline from April 15 to May 17.

Rhode Island Tax Administrator Neena Savage said that the division understands the challenges that Rhode Islanders have faced and continue to face throughout the pandemic.

“By aligning our deadline with the federal deadline, we hope to provide a convenience for taxpayers, tax preparers, and others as a measure of relief during these trying times,” she said.
