R.I. planning for administering a surge in COVID-19 booster shots

The state says 130,000 people will be eligible for this booster shot.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The Rhode Island COVID-19’s vaccine subcommittee met Thursday morning to roll out its plan for the surge in Pfizer booster shots.

This meeting comes just hours after the FDA authorizes Pfizer vaccine boosters for people 65 and older, as well as other at-risk groups.

The state health department predicts 130,000 people in Rhode Island will be eligible for this booster.

The DOH says 39 cities and towns in the state are prepared to host one clinic a month through the fall to help with administering these shots.
