Fire officials are investigating an intense fire that caused a mill to collapse in Fall River.

The fire started at 3:30 a.m. at 1 Weaver Street. The former manufacturing plant that has been vacant for years was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Within 20 minutes of arrival, the building collapsed.

They had the fire contained by 5:30 a.m. but are still working to put out hot spots in the area. Officials tell ABC6 it may take several days to clear the scene.

According to officials, the building was vacant and no one was injured in the fire. There is no word yet on the cause.

Somerset, Freetown, Westport, and Swansea all provided mutual aid in controlling the raging fire.
