Governor-elect Gina Raimondo announced Sunday she will nominate Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth H. Roberts for Secretary of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.

Roberts has served as the Lt. Governor since 2007. Before that, she served in the Rhode Island State Senate from 1997 to 2007.

“Elizabeth Roberts is the right leader for HHS because she has the key combination of management skills and compassion for the thousands of people the agency serves. We will keep Rhode Island families healthy, while also cracking down on fraud and focusing on fiscal discipline in order to cut costs,” Raimondo said in a statement. “The Lieutenant Governor’s years of experience working on various health and human services issues, coupled with her unwavering dedication to making our state stronger, makes her the best choice to lead this office.”

This past week, Raimondo announced Stephen Neuman as her chief of staff, re-appointed Janet Coit as DEM Director and re-appointed A.T. Wall as Department of Corrections Director.
