As we head into the last few days of August, we are starting to see the tropics ramp up. The area of concern at the moment is Tropical Storm Franklin, where the National Hurricane Center is projecting it will strengthen into a hurricane over the weekend.

Franklin is located about 200 miles east northeast of Grand Turk island moving ENE at only 6mph with sustained winds speeds of 60mphScreenshot 2023 08 25 At 70547 Am.

Franklin is expected to turn northward this weekend. It is not projected to reach the US, but the impact we could feel here mid-week is dangerous rip current and high surf. This is a concern as we are headed into a holiday weekend and many New Englanders head to the beaches.
