Raynham police arrest 2 in connection to merchandise return scams

RAYNHAM, Mass. (WLNE) –The Raynham Police Department said they arrested two men in connection to a merchandise returning scam.

Police said Angelo Henderson, 19, of Taunton and Dylan Lopes, 21, of Quincy were arrested on Monday following an investigation into a theft at a local Walmart.

Officials said the two men activated Visa gift cards and left the store without paying for them.

They said they would later return to buy Apple products which they would return for cash.

Police later learned they returned merchandise to the Walmart on March 19, worth more than $1,300.

Authorities said an officer at the Walmart saw two men matching Henderson and Lopes’ profiles acting suspiciously in the parking lot of the store.

Authorities were able to apprehend Henderson in a nearby wooded area first. They later found Lopes in nearby brush.

The incident remains under active investigation, police said.

Lopes and Henderson were both arraigned in Taunton District Court Tuesday morning on the following charges:
