PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The American Red Cross suggests that every family or household have a fire escape plan.

The Red Cross said that each member of the household should know two was to escape each room inside of the home in the case of a fire.

The household should then pick a spot to meet once all members make it out safely.

Families are encouraged to time their fire drills. The Red Cross said that typically household members may have less than two minutes to escape an active fire.

Anyone involved in a fire should stay low to the ground, if their clothes catch fire, they should stop drop and roll.
