Rhode Island Energy facing thousands without power

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The holiday storm reached New England Friday and has already left many without power.

According to Rhode Island Energy, thousands of customers around the state faced power outages as a result of the intense weather.

RIE said they have prepared for the event of statewide outages and are continuously working to restore power to those affected.

Customers can visit the Rhode Island Energy outage map for the latest updates on outages and estimated restoration times.

Clicking the “Menu” button in the top left corner of the map will give updated numbers on active outages and the total number of customers affected.

According to RIE, as of 12 p.m. Saturday, there are 1,209 people being affected by 280 outages.

Customers can also report outages through the “Report Outage” link on the map.
