Rhode Island Foundation announces $500,000 in scholarships

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ The Rhode Island Foundation will offer students and their families more than $500,000 in scholarships to help with educational expenses.
The philanthropic community foundation says individual and organizational donors have established scholarship funds at the foundation to assist students with tuition, fees and books.
The foundation says general scholarship assistance is available as well as scholarships that provide assistance based on gender, economic status or special circumstances.
The foundation says there are also scholarships available that target specific geographical areas.
The Bernard and Henrietta O’Rourke Scholarship and the Arnold and Madelyn Collins Scholarship target Lincoln residents.
There are also two scholarships available only to Westerly High School graduates.
