Rhode Island Foundation awards nearly $300,000 in grants

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ The Rhode Island Foundation has awarded nearly $300,000 in health care grants to eight local organizations.
The Foundation’s President and CEO Neil Steinberg says the grants will advance continuing efforts to make quality health care more accessible and affordable.
The organizations receiving awards include Hasbro Children’s Hospital, the Providence Center, Thundermist Health Center and others. Hasbro Children’s Hospital will use $50,000 to expand services for children at its Refugee Clinic, the Providence Center will use $68,581 to launch an outpatient program for Spanish-speaking patients and Thundermist will put its $39,500 grant toward expanding its Trans Health Access Team.
The Rhode Island Foundation is the largest and most comprehensive funder of nonprofit organizations in Rhode Island.
