Rhode Island Man With History of Child Sex Crimes Sentenced to 19 Years in Prison

A Woonsocket man has been arrested on child sex crime charges five times in approximately 12 years. A judge sentenced him to 19 years in prison on the latest charges.

Providence, RI (WLNE) – A Woonsocket man will go to prison for more than 19 years on child pornography charges.  The U.S. Department of Justice said he has a 12-year history of similar charges.

A federal judge sentenced 47-year-old Jason D. Boudreau of Woonsocket to 235 months in federal prison on Thursday. Boudreau had been charged with ‘access with intent to view child pornography’ and ‘possession of child pornography’. Boudreau had pleaded guilty.

The charges stem from an investigation in November 2015. Investigators received a tip that a child pornography video had been uploaded to the internet from Boudreau’s home. Members of the Rhode Island State Police, along with Homeland Security agents and Woonsocket Police, executed a search-warrant at the home. Investigators said they found more than 677 child pornography images on Boudreau’s cell phone. The images depicted adult males in sex acts with infants, toddlers and little girls. When Boudreau was arrested a short time later, agents said he had another cell phone on him with 100 more images of child pornography.

After Boudreau serves 235 months in prison, he must then spend the rest of his life on federal supervised release.

Boudreau’s criminal history involving child sex crimes goes back to 2009:

-In December 2009, Boudreau was convicted on a simple assault charge in Rhode Island. Investigators said he assaulted an 11-year-old child.

-In March 2012, Boudreau was convicted of 2nd degree child molestation. That case was also in Rhode Island. He was sentenced to serve a total of eight years: two in prison, followed by six years suspended.

-In November 2013, Boudreau was charged with felony ‘risk of injury to a child’ in Connecticut. That case was based on his alleged conduct with a 14-year-old girl.

-In January 2014, Boudreau was convicted for possession of child pornography, also in Rhode Island. He was sentenced to a five-year suspended sentence with probation. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender.
